My birthday is on April 5th, but I got my opportunity to get my present on Saturday afternoon.
We were still at the playground when Erik called Chris. They were supposed to come over around 2:30pm to hang out with us at our apartment. Erik and Kai-wen were doing errands that morning, so they were going to come over after doing those. But when he called, he said that they were still wanting to do more, and one of them was going over to TechnoMart to look at bedroom furniture for their 3 year old son, Kyle. They wanted to know if we wanted to come. When Chris asked me, I said, "Heck yes!!" TechnoMart is this huge 10 story shopping mall with everything you could want. It is mainly know for its floors and floors of electronics and computers and MP3 players - just about every computer electronic gadget you could ever think of!! Actually the first 2 floors are for clothes and shoes and bags and stuff like that. Then there are 5 floors of consumer electronics, like the cameras, video cameras, MP3 players, fridges, AC units, and such. Then there are 3 floors of all computer stuff. We didn't even get to those floors. And I guess they also have a section for furniture since that's what Erik's family went there for.
I've been wanting to go there for a while to take a look at all the digital cameras. I am always looking for a new digital camera, even if I don't need one. But I use mine all the time, so it isn't a purchase that would be wasted. Also, the one I have is 3 years old, a lifetime in digital camera technology. LOL And it was a 2.1 megapixel, not bad, but not great compared to the cameras out there now. So, I started to look around - man, I didn't know where to start! Seriously, it was overwhelming because the whole floor was of different vendors all basically selling the same thing - miles of digital cameras, camcorders and MP3 players. I guess the key to shopping there is knowing what you want, and bargaining for it because they know you can just go to the next guy and see what deal you can get there.
Well, I didn't really know what I wanted, just a new camera. I've always thought of getting a digital SLR, like the Canon Rebel digital.
But, I'm mainly using my camera to follow the kids around and handling a big SLR with all the various lenses, while that sounds really intriguing to me (I like to consider myself a photography buff, one day I'd love to have my own darkroom since I do know how to develop pictures), having such a big camera wouldn't be good at this time. Plus, those cameras are expensive. Small, compact and light is better with the two kids. But I didn't want to sacrifice quality.
Oops, I gotta go, I'll finish this entry as soon as I get the kids out of the bathtub...
