Happy Pepero Day, everyone!

Here's some Pepero for you!

YUMMY!

Maya took two packages of the giant Pepero sticks for each of her classmates and each of her teachers. I wonder if she'll get a bunch back too.

The girls have been enjoying having Pepero for dessert this week. We bought a whole bunch last weekend. Sort of like what happens around Halloween in the US...but at least Pepero is light and crunchy.

Hey Chris! CRUNKY!

Sorry, inside joke there. One of those that just wouldn't be funny if I tried to explain it, so I won't.

Have to say that they know how to do sweet snacks here in Korea. And Japan was yummy too - I requested that Chris bring back some candy from there the last time he went.

Is it me, or is Pepero like Pocky?

- According to the story, Pepero Day was started in 1994 by students at a girls' middle school in Busan, where they exchanged Pepero as gifts to wish one another to grow "as tall and slender as a Pepero."

Whoa! Good thing you gave Maya the Giant Pepero sticks!
Geez, imagine being as tall and slender as Pepero! No breasts or booty? Who wants that?

Oh, I just read that in Japan they have a Pocky Day. I think it's much smarter than trading candies as we do on Valentine's or Halloween.

You gotta love the crunchy.

Yes, they are similar. I'm not sure which came first the chick...er...I mean the Pepero or the Pocky. LOL

I got a cute little cell phone jangle of a Pepero character...I'm going to see if I can find more.

how cute!

Go figure that we weird Americans would rather dress up as monsters and rot our teeth out with candies while the Eastern countries prefer to give eachother gifts of flour sticks coated in yogurt or whatever it is in hopes that they would only become more beautiful (or what their culture believes is beautiful.)

Coated in chocolate. Not yogurt. CHOCOLATE!

Hi, I'm Payal. I saw you on Anjana's journal and hopped over to your LJ. I am in a masala marriage too and think your life is very interesting and would love to get to know you more. My journal is a mish-mash of things: law school related stuff, India and America stuff, stuff about my sister and BIL (who just had a masala baby last night), and gossip/vents/rants once in a while. Add me back if you see what you read in my LJ :)

Hi Payal! Welcome here. I saw your post on shortindiangirl's LJ. Congrats again on Baby Brian! Yes, I've already paid a visit to your LJ. :-) Thank you for the add and I've added you back as well. I have a lot of entries that are friends only, so you will see a lot more posts now that you're added.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you as well!

Pepero is a small cookie stick that is covered in chocolate. You can also get it with chocolate and nuts. YUMMY I think of a KitKat bar, inverted and very skinny. lol

And yes, I will email you our address. Thanks!

Almost exactly like Pocky. Pepero is Korean, Pocky is Japanese. :-)
