*sigh* - A Movement In Time And Space — LiveJournal
Moving through time and space in our own way
Why are people afraid to talk about politics? The election is the biggest event going on in our country right now. Shouldn't we be having more discussion of the actual issues? More talk about what each of the candidates actually stand for and less attacking other peoples' character?

Of course, if the candidates can't have that without the national debates to keep them on track, then what hope do the rest of us have of not veering off into simply throwing insults at each other?

Doesn't matter if we disagree on the candidates...at least lets agree to have adult conversations about what ails this country and what we should do about it.

The fact that we are allowed to vote shouldn't be taken lightly. Not by anyone.

What I'm feeling: annoyed annoyed

You are one of the few who aren't shying away from the topic - I saw the post you did on the Green Politics and I totally agree with you: there is no excuse for ignorance on the issues. Thank you for posting your findings. I went and checked both campaigns' sites too, and continue to do so at regular intervals.

Oops, friends locked is my default. I changed it.

Are you safe? Did your pool get hit by a hurricane?

Well, that's good they aren't keeping quiet, but are they having actual discussions about issues?

Throwing insults is all that seems to be happening lately. I'm so sick of that aspect.

In my office, it's becoming more and more frequent that the morning hellos have led to political discussion and then -boom- the morning is gone.

Plus I've overhead discussion by strangers on the subways more and more regularly.

It's the intarwebz (like that last post of mine), where commenters on the article I linked to were like "OMG, how dare you put politiks in a cooking magazine"

I used to not give a shit because I felt neither side were any good, but this is the year I get off the fence.

I am not afraid to discuss politics, or religion for that matter. (Aren't those the two taboo subjects that we're trained to avoid in mixed company?)

ugh. Okay, my response just turned into a whole other entry. I will finish it and post it over on my LJ.
