Friends all over the place!
When I think about it, I have friends all over the world. And how amazingly cool is that?? Most, I've never met in real life, but some I have. Yesterday was a day that was all about "meeting" and "reuniting" with some of them.

I had my first voice/webcam chat with wendy_in_md yesterday morning. I've known her online for about 4 years now. We are fellow scrapbookers...er...collectors. LOL We met on a yahoo group for scrapbooking. We really hit it off, along with another gal on there, but we've never met IRL. But, by the wonders of the Internet, yesterday we talked and saw each other! I think we talked for about an hour almost. What fun. Another person who I'd be really close to if we actually lived by each other.

Also, recently, a fellow USC J-school grad caught up with me through LJ. I have USC listed in my schools info. Imagine my surprise and delight when she contacted me! Last time I saw neonhummingbird was at my bachlorette party, I do believe. My wedding wasn't local otherwise that might have been the last time I saw her. LOL Anyway, so glad to have made contact again, neonhummingbird! No, I wasn't trying to avoid you - I'm just bad at replying to emails right away. LOL And yes, if you ever make it to South Korea, you have a place to hang. :-D

It really is amazing. I have friends/family who I regularly keep in touch with in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and India.

Ok, 2005 is looking a bit better now in the record books. ;-)

PS. BTW, if you haven't already, add yourself to my Frappr map.

It is cool isn't it?

Since I started blogging an finding new friends I've always had this idea that one could do a tour of them...I've been trying to come up with a way you might be able to do that for charity or at least for more than just the kicks of meeting the people you've come to know online.

I'll put that idea out there for anyone who can take it further. Let me know though if you do!

Someone needs to start playing the lottery!

I think it would be awesome to do a tour of all my friends around the world. What a great idea. Hmmm...we need to flesh this idea out more!

:-D

This is so great! I am jealous that I am not as technologically savvy as so many other folks out there, but even the little bit of journaling I do has really expanded my community as well. I am able to keep in touch with far away friends (like you!), and update everyone on all of the kids' exploits without spending half of my life on the phone. We truly are becoming a global community, and I think it is just wonderful. I like the idea of my kids being in contact with a diverse collection of friends, rather than lving in a tiny microcosm (sp?) of society in which everyone thinks, looks and acts exactly like them.

Sam, I mean this in the very most positive way: *no one* will ever think, look, or act exactly like your kids! ;)

And I wouldn't have it any other way!

Except for Maya and Justice, cause you know, they are actually sisters.

Or, perhaps, clones.

I can't believe I haven't replied to this already. Hadn't I? That's so strange. Maybe it was on my blog LOL.

I loved talking with you and seeing you at the same time, too! Makes the world seem a little smaller somehow, doesn't it?

We'll have to chat regularly. Then I can give you details about the dramas in my life LOL. I just can't keep track of the time difference. What is it again?
