Progress report!
Ok, not about my office, I promise.

I just finished my first full week of entries into my paper journal, which I started because of embodiment. Did my January 8th entry just now.

So, roll call to all of you who are in that community! How many of you have done your first week of entries in your traditional journal?

Don't be shy if you haven't kept up. I am keeping up because I take my journal with me everywhere - it is small enough to go into my purse. Plus, I'm just doing short entries - mainly just words or incomplete sentences about my day and my feelings. It's easier that way, rather than trying to keep a full account of each day.

That's what this journal is for. *grin*

Ok, who is first? I know there are a bunch of you who signed up...

I've been writing bulletins about the things I did that day and little sketches to go with them. It's mainly for my memory's sake because I've lost all track of time and have to be constantly reminded what day it is. :D

You still get snaps from me. *snaps*

HAPPY GRADUATION DAY!

When you get here, we'll go out and celebrate on the town. Ok? :-)

I have an entry for each day. I did have to back-date one entry. I had been updating the journal at night, and I fell asleep before I updated it. Oh well.

My entries vary. A phrase. A couple of pages. A paragraph or two. An illustration.

I just hope I can keep up the both the blog and written journal. I'm still not very familiar with LJ, so I can't do all the cool stuff you do with your blog, Priya. :) I'm thinking of upgrading to a paid account next month. I can't this month because Johnny informed me that I WAY overspent last month, so I'm on a spending freeze this month. LOL

My entries vary too. The last two I did, went on for a couple of pages (my book is 4x5), but before that, they were barely 1/2 a page. I was trying just a couple of sentences or even a few words about each day.

Well, I've been on LJ for almost a year now, and I'm just starting to use all the cool features. I especially like the pictures site, ScrapBook. That's the reason I upgraded in the first place! LOL

I signed into that community but left it .. I realized that I won't have time to keep up my online journal and an offline one while getting through this next semester. Keeping one is enough work already :)

It really is! Good luck in this next semester. Can't believe how fast the break flew by...

Yup, I've been keeping with it. I had to do my entry for the 6th at 12:07am on the 7th because I lost track of time, but otherwise it's been all good. :)
I've been doing drawings (comic strips, decorating pages) each day with usually at least a page of writing to go with them.

Someone asked about that, whether it should be considered an entry for the day or for the next day...I figure, my day starts when i wake up and ends when i go to sleep, whenever that may be. Do you also note the time you do your entry? I only put the day and date, not the time. Hasn't been all that relevent. I've dont back entries already.

The other day, i was looking for another journal, one with thicker pages. Chris got me this awesome calligraphy pen set with a bottle of ink when he was in Germany, but the ink would soak through regular paper, I think. I have to take a pic of it and post. It is gorgeous.

I agree about the waking up and going to sleep theory. That's my day! lol

Also, they encourage back dating, if necessary. Here's what the site says:

Missing a day is not failure... simply go back, and add an entry based on memory for that day. Back-tracking is better than skipping, and it will keep you motivated to continue with the project.

I want a post for every day of the year...even if I have to back date.

It is a good goal - to have a post for every day of the year.

I backdate without problem because I write about that day. I did Saturday's entry on Sunday night, but still backdated it because it was ABOUT Saturday.

Definitely helps with the motivation.

I note the starting and closing times on my entries, just so I can track at which times I'm most likely to write. It seems to be mid afternoon/evening for me, whereas I know on LJ I tend to write more around 11pm (thanks to a meme I did a while back).
I've been trying to fix my sleeping habits, so getting one done each day between the certain going-to-bed and waking-up times is important. Staying on track with that has been a problem in the past, so this is helping to regulate it.

Ooh, that sounds lovely. I had a chance to check out the Moleskines that everyone was raving about last week, and the sketchbook version, with the thicker pages, may work. No lines, though. For real ink I'd advise some sort of artbook, probably something suited to watercolours.

Good luck on fixing your sleep habits! Is that why you haven't been on skype lately? ;-)

I think I'm ok without lines in my journal - I write pretty straight without them. Yeah, I need to find a sketchbook to use my calligraphy pens in. But I've already started this journal and I really like it. If I find something I really like, then I'll switch and rewrite all the old entries in there (but I'd better find something quick then!). Otherwise, I don't know - the pen set is sitting on my clean desk just screaming to be used!
