School links
I'm enjoying the discussion about schools going on in my previous posts. slave2three asked for helpful links, so rather than put them into a reply that may get buried in the comments, I thought I'd post them here.

http://www.uscharterschools.org/pub/uscs_docs/index.htm - US Charter Schools

http://www.charterassociation.org/home.asp - California Charter Schools Association

http://www.magnet.edu/ - Magnet Schools of America

These are very general sites, but good places to start your research. Also, do a Google search for charter or magnet schools in your state. Most states have their own sites or associations. You can also go to the website for your public school district as these schools are usually under the supervision of the public school district.

i went to magnet schools (grades 2-12), which did a lot of good in my opinion. not all magnet schools are on the same level and they have their own set of problems, but in truth, i don't think i would have even gotten to college if i had gone to the regular public schools.

Thanks so much! This will be a great start! Once I get obssesed with something I research it to DEATH! It's always great to have a good reccomendations to start from. I would have never known about these if you didn't mention them. Growing up all I ever knew of was public school, and religious small private schools. Then I learned of Homeschooling, as my step-mother did that with her daughter, and through researching I stumbled upon the Montessori-type schools. There is one thing I know, I will be involved in his schooling no matter which way we decide.
